CSP Checklist for Implementing STIR/SHAKEN
CSPs must implement STIR/SHAKEN and/or a robocall mitigation solution to ensure calls are not blocked!
The U.S. Federal TRACED Act and an order from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandated that service providers must implement STIR/SHAKEN call authentication and/or a robocall mitigation solution by June 30, 2021. Some carriers received extensions.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Implementation of STIR/SHAKEN is a multi-step process.
- Most of the major voice carriers have already implemented STIR/SHAKEN, so 70 percent of phone numbers in the U.S. are already in the ecosystem.
- If you delay, your subscribers’ calls may be mistakenly labeled as spam, and possibly blocked.
- All carriers must certify what actions they’ve taken re STIR/SHAKEN and/or robocall mitigation in the FCC’s Robocall Mitigation Database – or their calls may be blocked on/after September 28.
