Webinar to Help Organizations Understand and Comply with Ruling
July 22, 2015, – STERLING, Va.- Neustar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR), a trusted, neutral provider of real-time information services, is hosting a webinar at 2 pm, ET, on Monday, July 27, to discuss the FCC’s recent ruling to reduce robocalls and spam texts. The FCC’s action, which “sought clarity on how the Commission interprets the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), closing loopholes and strengthening consumer protections already on the books,” will be the focal point in this webinar as participants will learn how the declaratory ruling impacts businesses that contact consumers via text and telephone.
Becky Burr, Neustar Chief Privacy Officer and former Federal Trade Commission employee, and Mark W. Brennan, Partner at Hogan Lovells US LLP, will lead the webinar and provide key insight into the FCC’s order for organizations that are engaged in outbound calling, text messaging, and telemarketing.
Topics addressed in the webinar include:
- What do these new rulings mean to your company
- What is the definition of an auto dialer?
- What does the one call exception for reassigned numbers mean and what is the impact?
- What are the special exemptions that the FCC announced?
- What steps can your company take to mitigate TCPA risk?
“The rulings have significant implications for telephone companies, other consumer-facing companies, and consumers,” said Burr. “As migration from landlines to mobile phones continues to accelerate, it’s critical that organizations have updated consumer phone numbers, and know whether or not that person has consented to be contacted on that device,” she added.
As a neutral repository with access to more than 200 independent data sources, including an authoritative list of phone numbers that have been ported from landline to wireless and vice versa, Neustar’s valuable wireless phone verification services have helped companies avoid substantial fines and earned the company the 2015 Vendor of Excellence Award from the Professional Association of Customer Engagement (PACE).
